My entry in the Shadow Hunters SMASh Contest - Round 372: Shadows and Leaves [Eng/Esp]
Happy weekend, friends of Shadow Hunters! As usual, it is a real pleasure to participate in this contest that is already in round #372 and on this occasion I went shadow hunting at my real workplace, my laboratory at the institute.
The institute is somehow nestled within one of the city's green lungs, Colinas de Bello Monte, from where you can see the city of Caracas from west to east. I like to come here very early because when the sun rises, the sky is usually cloudless, and the light then bathes the institute's spaces, which is how I was able to take this photograph. The cleaning staff hadn't arrived yet, and as you can see, the leaf litter covers the exposed walkways. Here in the tropics, there's a dry and rainy season, so when the months of March and April arrive, which is the beginning of the dry season, a lot of leaf litter forms, and I was struck by the patterns it formed with the shadows of the trees.

As you can see, the trees surround the entire institute, forming almost a vegetal dome where the sun's rays filter through. This beautiful image creates those striking shadows I just shared with you, not only in the hallways but also on the walls leading to the cafeteria where I go every morning to have a strong coffee before starting work in the lab.
Well, friends, this was my entry for this week's contest. I've really enjoyed these contests. In fact, I'm approaching them as a blog, where I highlight snippets of my daily activities. For example, the previous contest featured shadows in the spaces where I teach, and this one I wanted to focus on the place where I do scientific research. Next week, I'll try to find another special place to share with you through shadows. See you next week!

Feliz fin de semana amigos de Sahdow Hunters! Como ya es costumbre es un verdadero gusto participar de este concurso que ya va por el round #372 y en esta ocasión me fui a cazar sombras a mi verdadero lugar de trabajo, mi laboratorio en el instituto.
El instituto esta de alguna manera insertado dentro de uno de los pulmones vegetales de la ciudad, Colinas de Bello Monte desde donde puede verse de oeste a este la Ciudad de Caracas. Me gusta venir aquí muy temprano porque cuando despunta el sol por lo general el cielo esta libre de nubes y entonces la luz baña los espacios del instituto y fue así que pude tomar esta fotografía. El personal de limpieza todavía no había llegado y como pueden ver la hojarasca cubre los pasillos expuestos, aquí en el trópico existe la temporada seca y lluviosa por tanto cuando llega los meses de marzo y abril que es el comienzo de la temporada seca, se forma mucha hojarasca y me llamó la atención los patrones que formaba con las sombras de los árboles.

Como pueden ver los árboles rodean rodean todo el instituto, formando casi que una cúpula vegetal donde se filtran los rayos de sol, esta imagen tan hermosa genera a su paso esas marcadas sombras que acabo de compartirte no solo en los pasillos sino en los muros que llevan al cafetín donde cada mañana voy a tomar un café bien cargado antes de empezar a trabajar en el laboratorio.
Bien amigos, este fue mi aporte al concurso de esta semana. la verdad que he disfrutado mucho estos concursos, de hecho los estoy enfocando como si fuera un blog, donde destaco fragmentos de mis actividades diarias, por ejemplo el concurso anterior fueron sombras en los espacios donde doy clases y éste quise enfocarlo en el lugar donde hago investigación científica. La siguiente semana trataré de conseguir otro lugar especial que compartir con ustedes a través de las sombras. Nos vemos la semana que viene, saludos!
