Monster Raffle Banner & Branding

I’m not very good at Marketing or Graphic Design. It’s one of the main reasons why I have been using Artificial Intelligence to illustrate my posts. I know my strengths and weaknesses and making stuff look pretty or appealing is definitely not a strength of mine. But I know this stuff is important and particularly with the big SGS Monster Raffle about to go into full promotion mode when ticket sales start, this is an expertise that I definitely need some help with.

A couple of members have raised some very good points in the SGS Community Discord this week that have got me thinking a bit. The first was a bit of feedback from @summertooth about the monster graphics that a lot of us have been using that look a bit child-like. I’m keen to get a bit of feedback from others about whether our use of these “friendly monsters” in our promotional material is a nett positive or negative for the promotion of the raffle. Is there a better type of monster graphic we should use? Should we ditch the monster theme altogether?

The second comment was from @bitcoinman who was suggesting that we should use a Common Banner in our posts about the Monster Raffle to help with promotion. This is a similar branding concern and so I think it’s very related the first point above. In the past we’ve held competitions to develop branding for Precious the Silver Mermaid and we’ve had controversy where an artist has submitted an entry but then wanted royalties or citations whenever their submission is used.

To be brutally honest - I am not interested in doing that. SGS is a Decentralized Autonomous Community that relies on the goodwill and participation of our members who have already been giving generously to help the Monster Raffle get re-established. So I want to put the call out to see if people want to use a common banner and see if anyone wants to develop some marketing material that has broad appeal – with the understanding (in advance) that submitting any creative works will be a royalty free gift toward the SGS Community.

If you would like to develop a banner or promotional material for the upcoming Monster Raffle please reply below with your submission. I’d also encourage our SGS Members to upvote the comments of the submissions below if you approve of their use. You can vote for more than 1 of course. Whichever submission(s) get the most votes will be adopted and the creator behind them will receive a 100% upvote per day from my personal account for 1 month as a reward. That’s over $40 worth of upvotes if you’re posting daily.

I look forward to seeing what people can come up with

Replace the cute monsters in pic1 with the beast in pic2 and you have a winner imo

It seems we’re saddled with “Monster Raffle” but we could easily, and likely very happily, Ditch the friendly monsters. If peeps wanna’ put up a cutesy wootsy no problem, but for broader appeal I agree that the graphic should be better.

HOWEVER relying on membership to continue donating (beyond maybe once per year) is a little too demanding. (Just my opinion)

Maybe we keep this one #5 all close and friendly, and explore some options to entice a broader audience going fwd.

Great feedback my man. I tend to agree. Was initially thinking twice a year would be well spaced since our first 3 were a mere 3 months apart. But we should definitely learn to crawl again before we try to walk.

1 Monster raffle and HIVE silver round each year, 6 months apart?

Yep, totally agree. Not sure why we went with the word monster and I wouldn't mind losing it but maybe next time for that idea is better since we're in the thick of it already.
Once a year is good too.

Monster Raffle is a common colloquial term for a very large raffle in this part of the world.

I submit the following design. The background image was generated via the KarinaYana bot by @cryptoshots.nft on Discord. The rest of the design was created by me, and I do not wish any credit at all — anyone is welcome to use it.

Thanks for the mention and thanks for using Karina. She's getting more features soon. Tease: she's now connected directly to my Hive and Hive-Engine scanners...

I wish I could make the time to help out but I'm rather preoccupied with an important personal matters lately and the reason I have been much quieter than usual. I have yet to choose an item for the raffle let alone write a post on it.

Don't stress my friend. Real life always has to come first so please take care of your personal stuff as a priority.

SGS will still be here when you're ready. All the best!

Canva has really made work easy for graphics design though

I'm not a member of the community but I can see why the child-like monsters would be something some people want to avoid. Although I like the monsters (they're cute) I think it would be better to use something different. If I find some inspiration and time I may give it a go trying to create something in Canva.

Looking forward to the monster raffle!

I think this is a great idea. I have utilized the Hive community a couple of times in the past for stuff like this. There are some really talented individuals out there, so you should get some good responses!

Great idea, Get some banners and stuff and reuse them each year.

I'll maybe throw something together for fun and do another reply from my personal account 😁

I have the thoughts to make one but not the computer or the knowledge.

Throw out some concepts if you like. Maybe they'll stick and someone else can run with them.

Nothing wrong with the child-like monsters. But i’d like to see variety say every once a year in changing banners. Just like how big companies do their rebrands. Just a way to keep it fresh.

My submission :D

I didn't draw this but I had it commissioned. I told a human what I was thinking and they drew it for me in exchange for cash-money 🤑

Nice job. The Kraken man is possibly the perfect "monster" for us to use as it ties in the pirate and treasure themes.

Well, there was a disagreement with the artist over price and now I can't use it. I just I can't win for losing, all hail robot art I guess 🤦
