My thoughts about moving and nice little profit with moving boxes

Driving home for Christmas and for a New Start back in 2020

In November 2020 I bought 48 used but good moving boxes for EUR 24,- via Ebay. With a lot of luck it worked, to transport them all at once with my car. You really underestimate how much space they need.

Im November 2020 habe ich 48 Umzugskartons für € 24,- bei Ebay Kleinanzeigen gekauft. Mit viel Glück ging sich das mit meinem Auto damals aus, die alle auf einmal zu transportieren ;-) Man unterschätzt, wieviel Platz sie in der Menge brauchen.

Then I was lucky again that there was a room free, which only my landlords used for some old things as a storeroom. Where else would I have put these many boxes???

Dann hatte ich nochmal Glück, dass da ein Raum frei war, den nur meine Vermieter für einige alte Sachen als Abstellraum nutzten. Wo hätte ich diese vielen Kartons sonst hingetan???

It's crazy how many things all of us own. I think I once heard each person owns an average of 20.000 items. 20.000! I have sold a lot on Ebay and given away even more via a little table in front of my house for free.

Es ist so verrückt, wie viele Dinge wir alle besitzen. Ich glaube ich habe einmal gehört, jeder Mensch besitzt durchschnittlich 20.000 Gegenstände. 20.000! Ich habe sehr viel über Ebay verkauft und noch mehr über ein kleines Tischchen vor meinem Haus verschenkt.

Lots of stuff has also gone to the trash. By the way, they have a very good solution for this in Wolfratshausen. For only EUR 35, - you can register with the towns goverment. You make a list, wich things you have to throw away and then you get a date for the collection. One day before that date you put the things on the street and it is then simply picked up the next morning. No transporter and help organize, only put the things in front of the door ingeniously simple.

Auch zum Müll ist jede Menge Zeug gewandert. Ist übrigens in Wolfratshausen sehr gut gelöst. Für nur EUR 35,- kann man sich bei der Gemeinde anmelden. Man gibt an, was man alles an Sperrmüll hat und bekommt dann einen Termin zur Abholung. Am Tag davor stellt man die Sachen auf die Straße und es wird dann einfach abgeholt. Kein Transporter und Hilfe organisieren notwendig, nur vor die Türe stellen. Genial einfach.

While packing up all my things I asked myself again, do I really need all this stuff? And where should I put all the packed boxes?

Beim Einpacken all seiner Sachen darf man sich dann nochmals die Frage stellen, brauche ich das wirklich alles? Und wo soll ich bloß all die gepackten Kartons hin stellen?

Somehow I managed to get it all done and on December 23, right on time at 8am, the moving truck arrived in front of the door. It was the first time I moved with a moving company. With the Corona restrictions at that time, it would not have been possible to organize the move with friends across the border by myself.

But, it was nice, the three nice strong men packed all the furniture and put it together with the boxes into their truck.

Irgendwie habe ich es dann doch alles geschafft und am 23. Dezember pünktlich im 8 Uhr morgens stand der Umzugswagen vor der Türe. Es war das erste mal, dass ich mit einer Umzugsfirma umgezogen bin. Mit den Corona Restriktionen zu dieser Zeit wäre es nicht möglich gewesen, den Umzug mit Freunden über die Landesgrenze selbst zu organisieren.

Aber, es war doch schön, die drei netten starken Männer haben brav und zuverlässig alle Möbel eingepackt und samt den Kisten in ihren LKW geschlichtet.

I cleaned everything in the afternoon and finally I was too tired and it was too late to leave for driving 4-5 hours the same day.

Nachmittags habe ich noch alles geputzt und schließlich war es zu spät und ich zu müde, um noch am selben Tag die ganze Strecke zu fahren.

After a not so comfortable last night in Bavaria, it was early in the morning at 5h, end of the Outputlock, when I finally left in the direction of Austria.

Nach einer weniger gemütlichen letzten Nacht in Bayern, ging es früh morgens um 5h, Ende der Ausganssperre, endlich los Richtung Österreich.

I arrived on 12/24 at my home town and it was the craziest Christmas ever! Sourrounded by all those moving boxes. But then very nice to finally be completely at home again after 20 years.

Vormittags am 24.12. bin ich in meiner Heimatstadt angekommen und es war das verrückteste Weihnachten aller Zeiten inmitten der Umzugskartons. Aber dann doch sehr schön endlich nach 20 Jahren wieder ganz zu Hause zu sein.

The reason I'm sharing this today is because I sold the last few of those moving boxes this afternoon.

I had already sold 25 of them for EUR 20,- in spring
10 pieces I gave to my niece
1 broke
and today I sold the last 12 for EUR 15,-

Der Grund, warum ich euch das heute erzähle ist, dass ich heute Nachmittag die letzten paar dieser Umzugskartons verkauft habe.

Ich hatte schon im Frühling 25 Stück für EUR 20,- verkauft
10 Stück habe ich meiner Nichte geschenkt
1 ging kaputt
und heute nochmals die letzten 12 für EUR 15,- verkauft

So I made EUR 11,- profit with the boxes and was totally happy about it.
;-) Imagine the incredible profit if I had not given away the 10 pieces! ;-) Ok, the whole move cost about 3.000,-, but nevertheless I'm happy now and I want to share this joy with you :-)

Somit habe ich EUR 11,- Gewinn mit den Kartons gemacht und mich total darüber gefreut! ;-) Stellt euch den unglaublichen Gewinn vor, wenn ich diese 10 Stück nicht verschenkt sondern auch verkauft hätte! ;-)
Ok, der gesamte Umzug hat ungefähr 3.000,- gekostet, aber trotzdem freut mich das jetzt und diese Freude will ich gerne mit euch teilen :-)
