Pleasant Surprise...Hive naija prompt #26.

Pleasant greetings to you all.

When I think of surprises, I cannot help but smile. That smile is because I love pleasant surprises and I am sure that i am not the only one that does.

I didn't want to write this article at first but after much thought, I finally decided to share a pleasant occurrence by which I was thoroughly surprised by.

I was not really expecting the surprise in the first place. I was lazily lying on the bed that fateful day when Abigail's call came in. Abigail and I were colleagues, we taught together in the same school for about a year until she gained admission into a University in Benin Republic. Simultaneously, I also left the said school in search of better opportunities.

Though we were miles apart, we always kept in touch via phonecalls and whatapp chats. That was how we filled the void whenever we missed each other. Time flew by and Abigail graduated from school while I relocated from Surulere to Badagry. Soon life happened and the communication frequency dropped a lot.

Surprisingly, I got that call from her and it was such a joy because we had the opportunity to catch up and it was like we were never apart. To sweeten the pot, she requested for my account number which I sent to her.

When I sent her the account details, I was probably expecting #2000 ($2), for airtime and snacks for my daughter but lo and behold what hit my account was #20000 ($20).

To say that I was shocked is an understatement, I was pleasantly shocked because my friend had just graduated from school and she was not even working yet. I wanted to make sure that she was not inconvenienced.

As if on cue, she immediately sent me a text telling me to manage the cash for whatever I needed to. She also said that the money was from her savings for her schooling. Apparently she wants to further her education going for her Masters program, without delay.

After I read her message, I was touched because this friend of mine dipped her hands into her coffers just to make me happy and help me settle my bills.

By the time the call ended, my heart was overflowing with happiness. She needs money for her education yet she gave me a chunk of her savings to help me out. Not only do I find this thoughtful, I found it to be an act of bravery from her.

This was the pleasant usurprise I experienced last week, I wasn't expecting it and I shared it in response to the second question of the #hivenaijaweeklyprompt#26
