My music..my life.

Cheery greetings to you all!

Music is generally referred to as a combination of sounds pleasant to the ears. I have always had this notion that music is a gift without which nature would be eerily silent and boring. Music is all around us in nature ...you only need to listen.

I took out time to read the article by Nayantara Dutta because I really wanted to know why I like certain music genres and why I cannot condone the other music genres . I learnt that we are affected by music on three levels which are arousal, valence and depth...truly insightful. The energy, spectrum and ability of a song to cause an intellectcual and emotional response in an individual, is what creates an attraction to a particular genre of music in an individual.

I have observed that I like songs that affect me on an emotional and intellectual level, songs that I can relate to via its lyrics, its symphony, beat and charisma. I think I should add that my upbringing played a vital role in my choice of songs and this is in no way discrediting other musical genres... it's just how I roll.

Born into a Christian home, growing up among musicians who performed in church, inclined my ears and heart to gospel music. Here's a particular song that's my all time favorite.

made a way by Travis Greene.

The story behind my choice

Thr year 2015 began as a good year for me and I thought that it would remain so even towards the end until tragedy struck in September. I fell seriously sick that I had to undergo surgery. I was in so much abdominal pain that I could hardly walk. The first diagnosis and test showed chronic ulcer and I consumed the presrcibed drugs but no relief which led to another medical consultation and test which revealed intestinal rupture. I collected the prescribed drugs and took them but still no relief was forthcoming till I collapsed at home one afternoon.

My brother was the one who rushed me to the hospital and was told that I needed to be operated on A.S.A.P. The doctor clearly said that I had less than 24hours unless surgery was done. My brother agreed and signed every document while I was prepped up for surgery. A complication arose when my blood count result came out low, 12% PCV. It was an emergency situation and time was ticking away. After mich deliberations by the doctor's, the surgery was performed with the low PCV but after it, two pints of blood were immediately transfused into me. I ended up receiving 4 pints of blood in total.

After the successful surgery, another complication arose, my body refused to cooperate with the transfused blood. For several minutes after I regained consciousness, I was convulsing on the hospital bed till a nurse came to give me an injection which calmed me down, all that was left was my painful recuperation.

I stayed at the hospital for two whole months cos of finances. My family and some friends rallied round for the finances which was used to purchase drugs coupled with feeding as I didn't like hospital food. Finally, the bills were settled and I was discharged, leaving the hospital but not the memory. I witnessed the death of many patients which scared me but in all I pulled through by grace.

The song above was coincidentally released in 2015 and it resonated deep with my innermost being. It was **God who made a way ** for me and delivered me from the clutches of death....it was a first hand experience.

Best of all, the things I lost while I was hospitalized were restored in double folds. I don't how or why but He did it. I am standing alive and thriving because He made a way.

Thanks for reading and listening, I hope the song resonates with you too...shalom.

This was the exact definition of music that one baba like that that taught me In year one gave in his music lectures.
Indeed, without music, it will all be a boring experience!

This is a lovely song that as well resonate with the event that happened... Life is just what it is and shows us different aspects it holds but God gives us victory over it

I wasn't born into a Christain home and I was neither influenced by the native songs my dad used to play.😄...all those Native songs get me sick.

Then something happened, I found myself loving those songs when I left home
