A Beachful weekend. Weekend-engagement #184.

Warm greetings everyone ☺️.

Weekends are days set apart for fun, relaxation and enjoyment (in my dictionary). With this is in mind, I want to share a weekend experience that I would love to re-live over and over.

I am not a very social person, you will not usually find me in a social events, you would instead find me nose deep in a novel. The social events I am especially fond of are weddings, anything other than that...count me out.

This particular weekend broke the wheel for me. It was an event for singles alone hosted by a non-denominational organization. The event was planned to hold at the beach and I had to attend because it was an all expenses paid trip for members, of which I was proudly one. I mean I couldn't miss the food and drinks too, right?.

All who were to attend were told the bus-stop to meet and wait for transportation. The bus arrived and I along with other singles boarded the bus. We arrived at the beach after a 2 hour drive from Surulere to Epe in Lagos State. After we arrived, we all alighted from the bus and went into a large tent and that was when the fun began.

I had initially thought that it would be a boring event, so I carried some novels to entertain myself but the reverse became the case as I did not get to read even a single page. Inside the tent, a series of games were raised and we all took turns to participate. The first game we played was called introduction. A bottle was spun and whoever it pointed to , the person had to introduce him or herself and highlight their selling points, I guess it's a way to market and get potential suitors, hahaha.

Later on, we played truth or dare and each time the bottle spun, I swear my heart sunk deeper and deeper. I really don't like that game although I enjoyed listening to the others answering whatever question was posed to them, howbeit squirmishly. After that, we went to the shore and played tug of war. It was the ladies versus the gentlemen, only those guys were not so gentle.

Ladies were defeated by the obviously strong guys and to ease our bruised ego , a truce was called. Then we moved unto dancing, eating snacks and having a good time. I and some other singles decided to dare the waves. Whenever I go to the beach, I do not imagine nor think of going near the waves because I only know how to swim in a tub. So this was a daring act for me.

I took off my jacket, folded my jeans to knee length and marched like wonder woman to the water. The waves came rather strongly and before I knew it, I was almost drawn away from land. Luckily, one guy was close, he caught my hand just in time before I became fish food. The guy was also kind enough to teach me a trick stance to position myself whenever the waves returned and that emboldened me. The only thing I did not do was swim in the ocean.

After a brief interlude, to enable us dine and wine, we continued with some more activities. I especially liked horse riding. Who knew horses were so tall. When I was helped onto one, I felt ecstatic, like I was invincible. All that was missing was a shining sword.

That weekend was a fun and amazing one for me. If given a chance, I would love to re-experience every detail of it to my hearts content.

Thank you for reading...shalom

You really had a fun and memorable weekend experience at the beach.

Reading through this I remembered my own weekend beach experience years back, but sadly I don't have any photos of it again

Sometimes we also need to learn to swim, at least the basics. You said you can only swim in the bath, the same as me. If I go to the beach I only dare to go to the edge. thank you for sharing. have a nice day.

This is a weekend well spent; filled with fun and daring activities 😂

You almost got carried away by the waves?? It's a good thing that someone was nearby to save you from impending danger.
