The process of making moi moi (steamed beans pudding)

A very important touch of culture in Nigeria Is the variety of food according to different cultures in Nigeria, moving from place to place in this country you will have encountered different types of food but as much as there are so many kinds of food around there are some kinds of food that is quite common among so many cultures and a very good example of that food is a local Nigeria dish that we call moi moi (steamed beans pudding) it is so funny that I just got to find out the English name of this meal .

How can it be served

Can be eating alone but it makes more sense to eat it with other kinds of meal some like it with bread others like eating together with a meal of rice and stew and other meals as many as I can't mention and even when you think you have seen enough combination of this meal with other meals then just move to another community and see another kind of combination that you have not seen before.

How this meal is prepared

A measured quantity of beans is soaked in a bowl of water until it is soft and the soft part of it shell is worn out(the with covering on beans seed) although the covering don't usually come out completely so some people make use of pounding mortar to remove the covering by pounding it,next is to wash the beans until all this is no more there and all that is left is the beans only,next is the fresh spice(pepper),onion and the you can grind it in a machine until it becomes smooth and looks like magma from an eruption then you can other things depending on how large your pocket is and how you want to garnish it some add grinded cray fish ,egg and even fish sometimes but like I said you don't have to push yourself that hard if you don't have this things mentioned above then you can still go on as planned the difference is the quality you will get at the end next on is that you mix it gently while you add salt and Maggi cube (if you are making use of Maggi cube make sure you put it in hot water for some time so it will melt ) this will make the Maggi cube and salt to mix well with the beans mixture that's on ground,you can now put a measured quantity of it into a container and put into a pot of hot boiling water on whatever you are using to cook your meal now it is advisable to watch the container you are using to cook the food because the container will be spending as much as 30 mins in hot boiling water,some people make use of nylon but that is a bad practice cause they are exposing themselves to cancer others use leaf most especially banana leaf well that one is safe but not hygienic since some of this leaves are gotten from dirty places and trees but you can use this container in the picture I think it is the safest of the two.
