Every month is the same as the December but it is somehow special because it’s the month with many festivals. For special occasion and timeline they spend a lot in the end of the year. December in Bangladesh is the month when people starts to spend more. There is a shopping for Winter and New Year spending or people just intend to spend everything in December & have parties like January does not exist. Anyways, it does not matter what Is the reason, December is a month where most of us forget about our financial problems and throw the wisdom out of the window & spend a lot than it’s needed.

So, changes needed to be made and my family does that always with these few list of tips that helps us to enjoy our December and also, prepare for the New Year.

  • My mom makes a list of all forecast costs which includes the cost of winter clothings, travelling and foods. My mother starts to save for these expenses early so that she can avoid the stress for financial issue.

  • I used to cry a lot to but things which I don’t need but by the time when I grew up I could understand what I need and what I don’t and not spend for things that is unworthy. We stick to the budget to avoid useless purchases. Whenever we go for shopping before that my mother always makes a list and prioritise necessary items.

  • We decide how much we can easily spend out of the salary and profit without thinking about the financial stability. Like by discussing about the foods, clothings & entertainment or travelling cost.

  • Well, when I want to gift someone something I try to get creative with gifts. Handmade gifts carry more emotional and it’s budget-friendly also store-bought items does not require any efforts. I always plan to give unique gifts so therefore, to make unique gifts I go through Hive and they always have shown the easy steps how to make handcraft gifts.

  • My mom always takes the advantage of discounts and sales also many companies has on going promotions for the holiday season and it’s only available in December. So, it’s better not to miss those opportunities.

  • Budget-friendly gatherings must be arranged instead of costly parties. Moreover, this can help to cut down on expenses and continuously enjoy the festival.

  • If my father is planning trips then he pre-plans out and make sure for affordable transportation. During the travel we save on expenses by brining foods from home and not buy something from the road side.

  • Don’t forget about the financial targets and goals moreover, responsibilities should be remembered in the middle of the celebrations. Make sure that the bills or the other financial commitments are fully taken care of before spending all of the money on things that are not necessary.

  • My mom gives me the responsibility to keep a records of all the expenses. Because this would help us to stay accountable to the budgets. Moreover, gives the idea to fit where we might need to adjust financially.

As we have struggled from January to December. So, we deserve to do something exceptional but if the year ends with some profits then it gives another level of satisfaction. Through pre-plannings and by sticking to the budget and also by making choices with wisdom we can enjoy the last month without leaving behind the financial well-being and spend it with celebrations.

So making a friendly-budget list does help everyone to track the expenses and save us from overspending in December and not feel guilty about it later on.

It's true that in the time of December somehow people used spend more compared to other days. In fact, we are forced to spend more. In our country most of the financial things of family are done by our mothers and according to my knowledge the are very good in case of management of finance.

Budgeting is all about planning. And more importantly it's execution. Straying away means over expense which result in debts and add upto the woes.
