Tomyam with Chilli That I Harvest from Gardening

Hello Foodies,
It's very interesting this month, almost all of the vegetables and fruits that we planted were successfully harvested with good quality, but some still failed even though very few. Yes, as I've said before, the kale we planted was also not good in terms of quality. Kangkung has been attacked by pests and turns yellow, that's why we distribute 80% of our agricultural produce to neighbors, not for sale.

Even so, the failure of the kale planted did not stop our enthusiasm to keep trying hard in agriculture, because 90% of what we planted this month was a total success. Especially on red chilies, cayenne peppers and lettuce, it makes us very happy. In the midst of chili prices that have skyrocketed like BTC in 2021, we can enjoy red chilies for free from nature.

The weather recently has been very strange, maybe you could call it raining all the way from August to September, so the red chilies that we planted grew very well easily. Suitable for this kind of weather, chili is very delicious with soupy foods that are eaten when it rains, such as pho, noodles, ramyeon which are enjoyed in winter, with hot chili and will warm the body.

That's why, my mother in law ask to me, to cook spicy tomyam, she said it would increase my appetite. In the rainy season, we need a lot of protein that will support the body's immune system to stay healthy, that's a very good thing I thought.

Tomyam is a type of soup with lots of toppings, such as shrimp, squid, fish balls, dori fish meat and many more. With a strong sour taste in the sauce, this Thai food is very delicious. I also have the tomyam paste that hasn't expired which I bought yesterday when I was in Thailand, it's been almost 1 year and it's still very good to eat. Instead of being redundant, I made it a special dish for lunch this time.

The Recipe

With the chili that I got from our garden, even though there are only 4 small trees, this food is very special for our family. Husband, Mother and Father very voraciously eat it with satisfaction.


Ingredients:

  • Various kinds of seafood (Squid, Shrimp, Fish Ball and Tofu)
  • 1 pack of tomyam paste
  • 10 pcs red chilies, 5 shallots, 4 garlic cloves, 6 pcs cayenne pepper
  • 2 pcs of lemongrass, 1 segment of ginger, 3 bay leaves, 1 galangal, 1 pcs of kecombrang and 5 lime leaves
  • The vegetables (carrots, broccoli, onions, pakcoy, tomatoes, baby corn)
  • 65 ml of thick coconut milk or milk
  • 1.5 liters of water
  • The oil for frying

How to make Tomyam Seafood:

  • First thing I do is clean the seafood and cut some ingredients such as squid, fish balls, tofu and vegetables. Then I fried the squid, shrimp and tofu in oil.

  • Puree the tomyam sauce ingredients (garlic, shallots, red chilies, ginger and galangal). Then sauté with the remaining oil for frying so that the taste of the seafood is really thick. Add onions to make it more fragrant.

  • Then add the tomyam paste when the spices are fragrant, then add the lemongrass, bay leaves, lime leaves and combrang. Pour water until it boils. After that, add all the vegetables, toppings and seafood. Cook until all ingredients are cooked.

  • Add coconut milk or milk at the end, then pour in the flavor according to taste.

  • Tomyam seafood is ready to be served.

Those chilis are so pretty, they grow very well and long. It's sad thag some of the crops ended as a fail but at least most of them is still a success, so hurray to that.

And your dish, gosh, it looks so flavorful, I think just having the soup is enough for me, I will even pour it in a bowl of rice ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ

I really like seafood made into tomyam sauce like this. Moreover, eaten with warm white rice, this is very tempting and makes me hungry.
