(Edited)

Erica had always wanted to visit his maternal grandmother but Belinda, her mother had always looked for one excuse or the other to deprive her the opportunity. Each time other students at Mary Mount Academy visited their grandparents, they would brag about it to their classmates. This does not go down well with Erica. One day, she came home and told her mother:

Mom, I don't feel like attending school at Mary Mount anymore.

Belinda was dazed at such utterance from her daughter, a girl who was excited each time she was to be taken to school.

Is anything the matter? Do you have any bully in your class? Tell me, Erica.

Belinda wanted to know why her lovely daughter was having a change of mind all of a sudden.

No, mom. I have nothing to share when my classmates narrate their experiences at the grannies.

She heaved a sigh of relief.

So, its all about visiting your granny.

Erica bowed her head, counting her fingers.

Yes, mom.

For a moment, Belinda thought of how to save the day. She could not come up with anything. But later in the day, after the day's work, her colleagues at work had discuss the importance of drones. Having heard all that was said about drones she came to the conclusion of engaging a private drone owner to show Erica why she has been avoiding traveling to her granny's, at East Lake Victoria.

The poor girl was depressed though, she managed to go to school. But on Saturday, Michael Scoff came with his drone and a large screen that was mounted in the living room. Erica was excited. She never knew that her mother had done all that to convince her not to travel to East Lake Victoria to see her grandmother.

The excitement of the moving drone could be seen on Erica, she was so elated to see how Michael Scoff mounted the drone and controlled it with a little joystick on his pad.

Soon, the route to East Lake Victoria was visible on the screen. It was as lonely path with thick forest that has been the home of wild animals.

The local wooden bridge which was the only link to the small village was old and not motorable. One would have to trek for about three hours from the bridge to any residence. When this images appeared on the screen, Erica started to feel like it is unsafe to travel such dangerous path.

to the west of the Lake Victoria is the mountainous community where hunters have been chased out of the forest by wild wolves. These wolves work around the forest in a group and have become a threat to human lives in the region.

Michael moved his drone across the bridge and got to the small village that has less than a hundred dwellers, living in old stack homes with chimneys that is lit up during the cold period.

When her granny home appeared on the screen, Erica shouted for joy. She had only seen this kind of house in movies. She told her mother how beautiful the house looked but scary in to have been the woods. She imagine how life at night would be in the village.

You have seen for yourself the reason I don't want you to visit Lake Victoria. But I promise you that I would bring your granny over during the long vacation in August.

From that day, Erica became relieved of all the troubles that had bewildered due to her inexperience with her granny. Thanks to the drone that Michael Scoff brought in to make her understand what the reason actually was.

This contest is still on-going as announced by OCD. Perhaps you want to take part, kindly read up the Announcement post for the rules.

The drone was the driving force to dissuade Erica from being depressed. Now, she understands.
Thanks to the drone.

I love the way you based your story on the pictures and how they complement each other. The idea of the story seems so original and authentic, I don't think anyone would have come up with it. Nice story telling skills dear.

I had fun reading this.
