Based on the description of the image, it appears that the object is a piece of art or decoration made of woven material, possibly a type of rope or thread, originating from some ethnic group in ancient Portugal that came from the native Galician Hispanic and Romanised Lusitanian inhabitants. I have been to Portugal a couple of times, but on strictly work-related matters. I'll have to take a holiday to see the tourist sites.

I know what you mean. Work travel may sound glamorous, but often you don't get to see much other than airport, office and hotel
