Splinterlands Art Contest - Week 289 - Vera Salacia

Hey there, everyone. Following the hectic week that was at work and finishing up the idea that I had planned for Wrackoo yesterday, I wasn't really sure whether or not I'd be able to finish my entry for the Splinterlands Art Contest in time. That is when I pulled out the "We ball" card and started with sketching down until before I even realized, I was done with Vera - time really flies when you get busy with work.

As I mentioned before, I chose Vera Salacia to draw for this week. Drawing her was so much fun and trying out and perfecting my new hair technique on her was really satisfying - the way everything starts to click in and look good together, if you get what I mean.

As for the background, I went with a darker blue at first and added some glitters and glows in wavy patterns, but that ended up looking more like she was in space than the sea, that's why I added some brighter waves, flares, and generally tried to brighten the area around her - think of sun rays at the beach. And would you look at that, the drawing did a full 180 and I've honestly never been more satisfied with any of my aquatic creatures so far.

I hope you like the drawing as much as I did, and please, feel free to let me know what I could've done better or differently in the comments.
Cheers~
