The 100-Day Project, Day 79: Trying to Pick up Where I Left Off

Welcome to Day 79 of the 100-Day Project!

The thing about being part of a challenge, then going away to do something else — while being extremely busy — and then returning to your base point is that you can end up feeling a little overwhelmed.

Today's painted stone: Modest, but at least it is something!

As I wrote yesterday, after we go to an event, there's always a lot of clean-up work to be done. Very little of it is creative, let alone inspiring.

Looking Ahead...

Now that we are home and settled again, I get to return to the previous goal of updating and bringing all my Etsy listings current again.

One of the stones created for the show

This "update" will actually be a two-part process:

One: I need to get all the new pieces — the ones that didn't sell — into the Etsy shop.

Two: I am planning to add a brief video clip to all listings on Etsy, because evidently that increases your chances of makes sales. Can't say I'm looking forward to shooting and editing 250+ 10-second video clips.

Another new stone

I'm not even sure how I'm going to approach this whole thing... nor whether it will actually be worth it, in the long run.

Sometimes it feels like selling online becomes more and more complicated, and the amount of time you have to spend on presentation to make a sale keeps going UP, while people keep expecting to get more for less money than ever.

I'm not sure how that is supposed to work out, although I can assure you I am NOT AI, doing this work!

Green and pink are typically the colors associated with the Heart Chakra

I guess this is all my way of saying that I am just not feeling very inspired, at the moment.

Meanwhile, this challenge hasn't really helped boost the Alchemystones account as much as I had hoped. These posts are somewhat time consuming... and the creative bits are also time consuming... and with most posts being rewarded just a few cents, progress has been pretty much glacial.

In a way, I am looking forward to this challenge being over!

The Art Journal Habit

If anything positive is going to come out of all this it will be that I will have developed enough of a "habit" that I will likely continue to keep up with this blog as an "Art Journal."

And I would consider that a definite "win," even for meager rewards.

Keeping a journal of the processes and ongoing journey with my work has been something I have been hoping to get started for a long time.

I actually have started a few times before, but have invariably packed it in after a few weeks. The whole 100-Day Challenge idea definitely does help build habits!

An older heart stone

Still thinking on that one, for a bit. And still thinking about the whole social media marketing thing. After more than two months of forcing myself to do social media posts on a daily basis, neither my web site traffic nor my online sales have moved, even a whisker.

I appreciate you coming to visit and please do leave a comment if you feel so inclined!

Thank You!

If you enjoy painted rocks, do check out The Hive Rocks Project and help spread the word about Hive, while also being creative!

Because I am trying to make some semblance of income — a part time living, even — I now add this footer to all my posts, in the hope that someone, somewhere, might decide to take a further look at my work, and perhaps consider supporting independent art.

Thank you, in advance, for your consideration and support!

Thank you for supporting independent art!

What if you set up your camera on a tripod and just spun the stones on a turntable of some kind?

I don't know if it is anything you can consider, but I do shop Etsy some and although I can't name a shop, I have seen several that use the same video on all of their posts or maybe one of 3 or 4, where they don't feature the item they are selling so much as they show a few seconds of their general process or the such. That way they can do a minimum amount of videos to use in all their posts.

I suppose that is part of the challenge.... the challenge of actually doing it ! If it weren't a little tough, it wouldn't be much of a challenge.
