The 100-Day Project, Day 20 — Another Late Night in Paradise!

Welcome to Day 20 of the 100-Day Project!

Today's stone uses a color set I haven't used before... surprisingly.

I find myself facing another late night, trying to wring a few ounces of creativity out of my tired and weary brain, while also reminding myself "this is supposed to be FUN, right?"

Once again, I recall someone saying — in a different context, mind you — that "volunteer work is best left to those with lots of TIME to volunteer, and plenty of MONEY to make up for all the time they spend not getting paid."

Sometimes, I find myself contemplating the fact that creative work might walk a relatively similar path.

Another collage type shot of recent work

I laid aside my eBay work at 11:30pm, grabbed a quick snack and a drink, and then sat down in my art workspace to create something.

Perhaps not the best approach on the planet, but I'm pretty committed to this whole experiment!

Day 20 Stone Painting:

My weary head and dry eyes begged me to choose another smaller stone for today's creative enterprise, so that's what I did!

My superhuman powers are failing me, I fear...

Waiting for this happy little round stone to tell me what it wants to be.

For some reason, I'm getting the idea of white, black and red here.

This could turn out OK!

My wife walked through the room and remarked "Oh look, it's an Illuminati stone!"

I guess that's a way of looking at it!

Day 20 Summary and Social Media Bits:

One stone finished: Another fairly respectable smaller stone, nothing very impressive, but we do need to restock the "$20 and under" basket for spring and summer shows, so it's not like I am wasting my time!

Daily Twitter/X post: Check. Posted on of my old experimental designs... need to format more photos.
Daily Facebook Page post: Fail. Didn't have time for Facebook today.
Daily Instagram post: Fail. See above.

Other Stuff: As usual, this Hive post; spent a little time experimenting with a motorized carousel and camera setup to use for shooting short videos to add to all my Etsy listings. Large project ahead! Daily shoutout to @gillianpearce!

Day 20 completed; and it felt like a struggle. Our son — who visited for five days — headed back to Seattle this evening, so this coming week I will likely have a little more time to focus on things creative, and particularly on the somewhat neglected social media parts of the challenge.

Did I set myself an excessively lofty goal when I took on this endeavor? Time will tell, I suppose.

I recognize that I am learning the truth of something my wife likes to point out about my rockpainting colleagues who seem to do so much more that I: It's the only thing they do. My work is just a tiny fraction of a much larger circus!

I appreciate you coming to visit and please do leave a comment if you feel so inclined!

Thank You!

I admire your tenancity, creating at that time of night. I don't think I'd be able to do that so yesterday I was at the opposite end of the scale - trying to get something done and a draft post written before I left the house for a family day out. That seems to my pattern. We're like bookends you and I. 😂

But look at us doing it. I'm dead impressed we're both still here and plodding on.
