Art and Creativity: On Keeping an "Art Journal" for Inspiration and Tracking Progress

A couple of days ago, we got signed up for another event to attend as vendors, this coming November. This will be our 4th planned event of the "Fall" season (September - December).

I have considered starting an Art Journal to better keep track of ideas, when, what, how and all that stuff.

This would be different and separate from my sporadic attempts at blogging here on Hive. I suppose the two might overlap at times, but a paper art journal would be more about just sketches and writing notes to myself. And keeping track of important dates... a bunch of that stuff that really doesn't make of scintillating reading for a broader audience!

This spring and summer, I have really been battling my very sporadic creativity flow.

I know a lot of so-called "tools" like art is a PRACTICE and so forth, but there's a sadly large gap between the knowing and the actual acting on that knowledge!

I need something, though... to get me out of this sleepy stupor.

The trip we made to the coast a few weeks back was definitely helpful, and earlier this week I actually spent some time sorting through my paint supplies, getting rid of dried out paint and "taking inventory" to see whether I actually have all the art supplies I need to make it through to the holidays.

Not that I can really afford to order a bunch of stuff, but there are definitely some small bits and pieces I can get, without breaking the proverbial bank.

Meh... maybe I should just skip the art journal, and do my art journaling here.

I was reading a post — here on Hive — last week that touched on the subject of WHO it is we write for, and using our blogs as personal journals. It seemed poignant because of the big fuss we often make over the fact that being on Hive gives us "true ownership" of our content.

Well, if I really have true ownership of my blog, then I can also use it as I see fit, right?

This is just the lazy side of me coming out and declaring that I really don't want to have to keep up with yet another notebook, started with good intentions and subsequently abandoned.

Yes, I've been through this little routine before!

In other news, we're now at the halfway point in the month of July. Time for me to really "make good" on my intentions to migrate my eBay inventory to here on the Hive blockchain, using the HiveList store app.

This week is as good as any time to get that particular ball rolling.

Stay tuned for more!

Thanks for visiting! Feel free to leave a comment, if you feel so inspired... engagement is part of what makes Hive such a cool venue!

This latest thing we signed up for is a "Ghost and Paranormal" conference in a nearby town. Historically, that has been a supportive demographic. Our all-time best results from an event remains a UFO/Paranormal Summit a few years back (pre-Covid).
