SpillthebeansW58: My story without caffeine, a stage passed.

Hi friends, today I share with you my weekly entry in Spill the Beans, Coffee Prompt Week 58, you can join this great challenge and tell us about your experience.

Debatable Prompt: Sometimes illness makes it impossible to enjoy coffee. Tell us about a time that you were very sick; did your relationship with coffee change during this time?

For many it is incomprehensible to think of a day without coffee. For those of us who love coffee, this delicious nectar that revitalizes our mind and body impregnates every day of our lives with energy.

Although I have never had a serious illness, I have had terrible discomforts that I do not wish on anyone. Anyone who has experienced stomach pain due to gastritis can understand what I am talking about. I identify that pain as if a stake were being driven through my stomach. Something similar to what they do to vampires in a horror movie. But I clarify, I'm not a vampire. 🤪

It all originated in my college days because of the black soda drinks, a hallaca with Pepsi for breakfast and on another occasion 5 days in a row drinking coke at snacks, were the poison that together with the student stress for so many academic projects to do, triggered the most terrible pains I have lived in the history of my life.

My stomach was very sensitive, it was a time when many foods affected this organ of my body. Drinking coffee more than a delight became a torture for me, although I wanted to drink that wonderful nectar it was no longer so wonderful, immediately a burning and an acidity invaded my stomach and stole my peace. 😔

Then I had to make some adjustments in my diet. By my own decision I was taking out of my daily diet those foods that made me feel bad. Disciplinedly I complied with my medical treatment and for 3 months I followed a rigorous diet and this included a life with zero caffeine Can you imagine that? It is not a day without coffee, it was 3 months without coffee and by my own decision.

For many this may be something impossible to achieve, but there comes a time when health and wellness must prevail. Believe me, I did not miss drinking coffee, neither did my head ache, I could be next to the coffee pot and smell that irresistible aroma without feeling anxious about drinking coffee. The pain that my body had suffered was so horrible that it led me to the determination that for anything in the world I wanted to live it again and that is why I did everything possible to avoid it. Today I affirm that the power is in the mind.

The best of all was that after three months following my medical treatment and eating healthy my stomach overcame that illness, the most fabulous thing was that I was able to drink my delicious coffee again.

A cup of coffee in the morning and another one in the afternoon, is the routine I have daily, without abuse and without limitations, I think that this drink well administered can become medicinal since it has helped me to control other diseases in my body such as allergic rhinitis.

I hope you do not have to live this experience and can enjoy your daily coffee. Best regards to all of you.

I know very well what it means to give up things we like, including coffee, for our well-being. In particular it happened to me and when I had a chronic malaise my only desire was to feel good again, I didn't care about anything else.

It is good that now you can enjoy coffee without limitations or excesses, I think it is good to maintain a balance.

Yes, that's the idea, everything under control. In reality, it is not the coffee that harms your health but the abuse of harmful foods, they are the only ones to blame. Thanks for stopping by @verdesmeralda 🤗

I agree that the mind is the most powerful thing, and I'm happy that you recovered and continue to enjoy coffee:)

I am also happy about that, life without coffee is not the same, it needs that special touch that energizes our body. ☕🤗

Unfortunately when the body is affected by diseases we have to limit ourselves from consuming certain foods. Fortunately, you were able to overcome your illness and enjoy what you like again, especially coffee☕

Thank you for sharing your experience with us.

Good day.

I also have a delicate stomach, sometimes coffee with milk is terrible for me. The good thing is that I can go through the day without drinking coffee and I don't miss it. Thanks for sharing dear @alborhada. A big hug from Maracay.

Hello, Maybe you should pay more attention to other foods that are causing you discomfort, although milk is very harmful. In my case, I stopped consuming soda and freed myself from that terrible illness. Greetings from Apure @irvinc
