As the technology has become more available and affordable, drone use is becoming increasingly prevalent in disaster relief and emergency response. First responders and other relief organizations will benefit from drones because they can quickly assess, monitor, and respond to a variety of crises. For example, with the help of drones, there is a report of danger within the next seven days. Seven states in Nigeria are planning for flooding from the Lagdo dam in Cameroon, where the water will be released into the river Benue in Nigeria, causing flooding in neighbouring states. This has been a yearly event that threatens life and property in the affected area. The National Emergency Management Agency is working hard to reduce the effect of the flood with the help of drones. These devices have been instrumental in reducing the flood's effect and assisting the victims of the disaster. Drones are particularly useful in the early stages of a disaster because they can provide remote sensing information that is vital to preparing and directing correct responses. The Drones can monitor the area for damage to buildings, provide thermal images of affected areas, and even detect gas leaks. This information will help first responders to plan the most effective response and allocate funds accordingly. Drones can also be used to deliver medical supplies, food, and other necessities to people in need, in addition to providing remote sensing data. This can be especially useful when roads and other infrastructure have been lost or inaccessible as a result of a disaster. In addition, drones can be used to carry out surveys, as well as rescue missions. Drones can be used to relay messages and information to people in the affected areas, particularly around the river Benue, while search and rescue operations can be carried out more safely and effectively with the help of drones. To conclude, drones can provide a wide variety of services to the displaced, as well as disaster relief and emergency response efforts. The floods in Nigeria has affected 158,157 people, 28 people are dead while 48,168 people are now in various IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) camps. The analysis of these results has been made possible by the help of drones.
