Long Term Hold Coins - What investment would survive another Crypto-Winter?

Cryptocurrency investment, like most investment options, has always thrown up issues. As the crypto market is still in it's infancy it is very much still a speculative market that is easily moved by news outlets and tweets.

This article will look at some of the coins I am 'speculating' on and why I choose these coins. I'll be looking at altcoins and not Bitcoin or Ethereum as the fundamentals of the two big ones are well known.

My investment strategy is two-fold, long-term hodls and short-term flips.

Short-Term Flips

This is my short-term coin bag where I am looking to make some short-term gains to build my long-term bags. I am looking for coins with some strength and good fundamentals. I don't day-trade (too stressful for me) so a week or so is my timelines for short-term trades. Any coin could fall into this category for me.

Long Term Hodls

When selecting coins to hold long-term outside of BTC and ETH I am looking for coins that can weather a crypto-winter. Those high-cap coins with great fundamentals that can be built upon is what I am looking for. These are my main coins at the moment:

$ADA

Cardano is a proof of stake (PoS) blockchain launched in 2017. With a current Marketcap of $42 Billion, Cardano has grown significantly since it’s launch and will soon launch smart contracts as a strong alternative to Ethereum with much lower fees!

MATIC

Polygon is a protocol of building and connecting Ethereum compatible blockchains. A relatively newcomer to the crypto space, this multi-chain product is similar to others such as Polkadot. With a current marketcap of $7 Billion, I can see this coin staying the course as it’s technology is rolled out and adopted further.

$DOT

Polkadot is another protocol that connects blockchains together. Blockchains that opt in can access the PoS and operate ‘parachains’ to reduce the cost of operation and improve scalability. Currently DOT has a marketcap of $14 Billion.

$SOL

Solana is a web-scale blockchain that provides fast and secure dapps and marketplaces. The system currently supports 50,000 transactions per second. With a current marketcap of $16 billion, Solana is a growing technology that has some interesting technology.

These are just some of the altcoins I am looking at and researching for longer-term holds.

Investing is a new game for me and something I am learning everyday. Reading technicals and studying fundamentals is an important part of the strategy for me and many others and I am always learning!
