So where is the fresh blood?

I was looking for the Hive Witness and I am surprised to see that there are lot of new witness in Hive started in past one year and they are in top 100 too. So I compiled the list of new witness from top 100 witness and time passed in months since they started their witness.

I only included the witness that are started less than a year and currently at top 100 at https://wallet.hive.blog/~witnesses

So today I adjusted my witness vote for new witness, just thought might some new blood at top witness may be more interactive and bring more fresh ideas in the mix overall giving more popularity to Hive Blockchain.

I already voted for leofinance and cryptobrewmaster earlier ,so I am keeping my witness votes as such.
I today added my votes for threespeak (I think it is nice project and I feel @theycallmedan is quite dedicated for growth of Hive). Also added r0nd0n,gerber and cadawg for their development capabilities.
Voted Hextech as I find @edicted post very honest and thought provoking.

May be reshuffling our witness votes might make overall Hive witness more responsive (responsible too, I really hate all the half bake stuff they post asking the community whether they "do this?" in future. I expect witness to come with all pros and cons of their idea before asking the community ,not with very open ended questions.)

Anyways ,if you guys are feeling same to give chance to new witness then feel free to take a look. I know most of us don't care for witness/witness vote but in reality we all should care about them and should raise our concern.

Regarding @innerhive, he produces blocks regularly even though it hasn't published a price feed for a long time 😉, same case for @rotfl

To publish the price feed, you need to set up a specific application, which not all witnesses do.

This is independent from block production, so the best way to see if a witness's server is active is by looking at when the last block was produced. For example, my server is at the rank 100 which means that it produces a block every 10H. If my last block produced is much older then it's not active or in error.

I know the price feed is a separate application to block production, but I personally see it as a bad sign if a witness isn't watching their price-feed too. A few witnesses had trouble with price feed apps breaking around HF24 so I've been a bit lenient though.

The price feed is super easy to set up using HIAB.
It took me 5 minutes on my witness and I'm not a dev.

Really no excuse not to have it updated.

All my knowledge gained through the reading other posts and I guess
I read that price feed is very important aspect of witness server because it determines the post payout. So I took price feed as one of the metrics to evaluate witness.

Everything depends on how you perceive the rule of witness, for my part, the publication of the price feed, even if it is not required, is part of the rule because it contributes to the proper functioning of Hive as well as having a low missed/produced blocks ratio through the use of a server with adapted specs.

In any case thank you very much for your post, too many people don't care about the witnesses so it's always a pleasure when a Hivian makes a post on this topic 👍

Shift your votes further down the list! Try and bring some new people to the top 100, I’ve given a few accounts beyond 100 some love. The more support we have on the other end the better, I think! These people are trying to help the consensus, I’ll give them my little bit of help!

Sure. I forget to mention that a couple of day I put my vote for @nathanmars, a new witness . Then only I get the idea, let see who are joining as witness and see whom I can feel comfortable to put my vote.

As per my understanding:

You see your post/post payout in Hive as dollar value but actually you get Hive/HBD for your post. Every witness puts price feed(price of Hive) that give you Hive/HBD against the dollar value of post. Or in other words your vote value is dependent on Hive price feed that witness are feeding in their witness server.

If witness do not update the price(they took reference price from exchange) then you will find price anomaly between exchange price of Hive and Hive generated through post payout.

What ia the meaning of last price feed done 12 days ago or month age?
It means ,witness did not updated the price of Hive since last 12 days. Ideally they are supposed to update it every 6 hours (IMO,not sure)

Sure, most of the user are really not aware of it in depth or sometime it is like "ok, I don't care" but in reality our fate and robustness of blockchain lies in their hands.

Hive is shit- and Steem's course is soon 50% higher than HIVE's. And are you all still happy here ? You have been lured here by a gang of power obsessed witnesses, who only wanted to enrich themselves and also have been lured here on the chain that is doomed to perdition.

It's a good idea to keep on top of your witnesses, the only T20 I vote for now are the one's I've met at SF3 or 4.

Having said that I think they could do with a kick up the backside!

@elindos could do with a boost - he runs @exodegame and is not in the top 100. If you've got a spare vote after all that!

Hey thanks! He's certainly dedicated to the game, and I think we are about ready for kick off with the Evac stage.

It is a very playable game, quite complex, and most unlike Splinterlands it's designed to have a good user experience even if you spend very little on it!

Not a problem, I'd consider us friends of Khal so when we heard about it, we looked into it. It was quite fun to be honest (apart from the fact that funds were lost) it was a bit of an adventure trying to trace everything back.
