So I Finally Joined Rarible: Ethereum's NFT Platform

Last month I started selling my art on #NFTShowroom and I got pretty favorable results with some of my art pieces. Throughout the month I learned a lot about crypto-collectibles, NFT's and how to use them.

One thing I noticed that the NFT scene on Ethereum's blockchain is stronger than the one on HIVE. So, I decided to learn about that a bit and that led me to Rarible.

Rarible is a blockchain collectible's (NFT) marketplace. One of the largest ever and is governed by its token: Rari.

I tested the website around four days ago. Logging in with my Ethereum's wallet, I found that I already had two NFT pieces which I probably got from promotions I took part in. (That or my ETH wallet got hacked/used by someone else, my transaction history says otherwise.)

I also found out about OpenSea.io which shows other NFTs that are linked to my account that are not art collectibles. There were transactions I forgot I made them on the ETH blockchain.

Yesterday I decided to join the platform seriously, choose one of my art pieces to sell, and made a collectible from it. Everything went right until the transaction happened. The transaction didn't reach its destination, it didn't even register on Etherscan! ...What? Why?

I even asked for help in Rarible's Discord.
Nice people. Helped me choose the direction I went to solve this.

It took me a whole day to understand where the problem was, (actually three hours, but two of them were on the second day.) It seems that I had a pending transaction regarding one of the NFTs on Opensea and MetaMask refused to do anything until that transaction goes through... Well, I never expected this so I spent a very low gas fee four days ago. Oops! Anyway I increased the gas price (a bit too much.)

Now, problem solved and I have my first art piece on Ethereum blockchain! See the first image in this article. I know this isn't the best drawing to sell, I used it as my Avatar in 2012 but I still love it, and still holds up with my art in 2020 so, I hope that you like it.

If you're interested in more art from me, here's the list of NFT's currently on #NFTShowroom:

What are your thoughts?

Do you have any experience with NFTs? NFTShowroom? Rarible? Did you encounter a similar problem on Ethereum/MetaMask as I (and @chekohler) did? Please share in the comments!

I appreciated if you share this post on Twitter too!

Thanks for sharing your journey / experience. I'm about to dive into NFT art and only learnt about Rarible today ( or was it yesterday? ). Will keep an eye on your blog and might share my experience with NFT art one day soon.

Have a good one!
