You gave them an offer, they took it; now what? Ego on display

I had all the techniques right. I was able to come up with a great sales copy that pulled in the much needed audience. I set up great sales funnels, capturing leads as prospects came around.

My copywriting was top notch. My Facebook ad creative could send anyone flying into my inbox. My website landing page was quite enticing, but something was missing. My sales wasn’t coming in as expected. In fact, it wasn’t coming in at all.

Yes I know, I was supposed to give my audience an offer. A bait with some dosage of value. I gave it to them. A free report, a pdf, highlighting what my products can do for them. How come no one is buying? Did I do something wrong? No, of course not! My Ego would not allow me see my shortcomings.

At this point, I went thorugh all the steps, highlighted by the advertising courses that I purchased online. I reflected on each one; carefully, I did not want to accept the fact that I did something wrong. I could not accept that I missed a mark in my strategy.

As it stands, I am considered an expert in my field. I have learned to sell and closed tactical deals over time. For your information, I am talking about physical deals, where I have to meet the client one on one.

If I am found in a position of convincing someone to buy a product, I will do so without blinking, and the results has always been great.

So why then I’m I getting it difficult to generate sales online? Are they not the same people that are present in this damn space?

Physically, I can watch a client emotions spread out on their faces. I can tell when they are about to bell out on me, and tweak my speech. They can haggle with the price until it favors them. They can ask for discounts or extra service.

All I needed to do was to exploit their weakness, tendencies, and instincts. I learnt early on to shut up, when I felt like screaming at my client, no matter how they are pissing me off with their proposals.

But online marketing seem to have changed all of that, I figured. They no longer needed human interactions to thrive. The competition has become tougher, but my Ego has failed to recognize this.

I was going into doing business online with the same strategy I used offline. And it was not delivering any of the results I assumed it would.

I had forgotten totally, that since I am selling online, I needed an irresistible offer. What I was offering to my audience was a resistible one. They are supposed to be led to understand that they need me, and what I am supposed to offer, and not the opposite.

Source
They ought to understand that I can walk away with my product if they don’t buy. And it won’t change the fact that they are still having those challenges the product was supposed to solve for them. They needed to know that they are at the losing end if they don’t take the offer.

There! As much as I had ego, my audience had theirs too. So, rewriting my sales copy, I channeled it to the human emotions. An emotion that sways them from seeing I want something from them. Their Ego will be let down, if they see that everything is about them and not me.

From here, they will think they want what I am offering, and that makes them receptive to my offer.

It came with telling them the price will go up in a few hours or days. Or the quantity of the product will not be enough to go round. Or that they should hurry else they may not get the chance to buy.

Source
Knowng that someone is wiling to help you get something you want at a small fee, is a bait that breaks down every manner of Ego, especially if you are in need of that thing

No one can resist such help, not even you!

I had a similar experience with a client a long while back who was trying to sell coffee online. They had a good product, really tasty arabica coffee, but they had too much ego and wouldn't adapt to the market.

They insisted on setting a high price and believed that the market would see the value of the product and be willing to pay even if the package around it wasn't up to standard. Needless to say, they went out of business after 3 years.

It's quite a sad story because I think they could have been a major success if they didn't have too much ego and were willing to listen.

Oh that is really sad

I wish they had settled down, and listen to the reviews around the products

Maybe they would have become an industrial name by now

Thank you for sharing your experience @charcoalbuffet

That's a great marketing strategy and it works always. I run social media ads for my clients and I always offer a money-back guarantee for the first month if I don't get the desired results. No matter how big I will become, I am going to follow the same strategy. It has helped me build the trust of my client before taking a paycheck from them. They don't feel cheated and gives them a good reason to try my services. ✌

Oh my God! I am glad someone can relate to this

And you are right, a money-back guarantee is a great way to win client's trust

All the best in your social media marketing, buddy

Thank you so much buddy. I could totally relate to this since you mentioned Facebook ads, lol. It's getting boring though.

I want to use my skills to grow my own brand now. That's where Crypto comes in. 😁

Its true that its getting boring

Mr Mark and his robots keeps shutting or banning people's ads account every now and then

One has to watch his back while promoting his products, and that is quite strenous

But then crypto is here with a new beginning and we really build our brands for sure.

Hmm. About halfway into this write-up I forgot the whole ego thing and started taking it as a marketing class 😃
Nice tips @edystdingz but in my opinion it works both ways too, people can be attracted to your product if they feel they need you, same goes for if they feel you need them. Ego that drives them away when they think you consider yourself so important also makes them play hard to get when they think you consider themselves so important 😂😂

Weird nigga, you came around

Sorry, I was just playing around with my ink, and if felt you could not find the ego anymore but a marketing class.......oh, I have no idea what to say anymore.....hahhaaha

same goes for if they feel you need them.

'How do you mean, my friend?

Would it be an exaggeration of me to say that the ego can start precisely in these types of classes (or in any other type of class where the holders of knowledge think they are superior)?

I've always assumed that you had a very high EQ, but this write-up has just proved it more. I can relate with the "in-person" situation instead of online/text etc. Being able to read someone's emotions, frame of mind, comfortability etc. isn't the easiest thing to do without direct face-to-face human interaction.

Have you considered making a post about your engagement here on the platform and how your emotional intelligence is linked to it? (sorry if you have already published something like this and I've missed it, the amount of content and replies that are in front of me right now is quite significant).

Hehhehee...now the person I envy the most in the community is trying to pull my legs....winks...Thanks for the compliment, sir. I appreciate this.

Yeah, that is true. My dad always tells me as a warning that I should value human interactions more than the books I read....lol. As a child, I did not understand, until I grew up. Now it makes more sense, especially, if one wants to apply it to business.

At some point, in a physical interaction, the location matters. There are business deals one has to close in his territory and there are those deals he has to close on the client's territory. One has to know which one will favor him the longest run. Oh, and it comes with a lot of intelligence, and wit. I pray the Almighty gives that to us.

hehehehee...maybe I will do it if you give us the word of the to be two words...Emotional Intelligence......hhahhahhahaha

(sorry if you have already published something like this and I've missed it

No, I have not. But If I do, I promise to tag you to it...smiles

the amount of content and replies that are in front of me right now is quite significant).

I completely understand, sir.

Thank you so much for coming around, and leaving a trail behind. I appreciate this gesture.
