In Admiration of All Those Early Risers!

My alarm went off at a few minutes before six this morning... and after a few moments of disorientation, I went about the usual morning routine of procuring some hot brown liquid.

As I went about my business, I found myself thinking about the millions (billions?) of people who get up at this hour, every single day.

Actually, there was a time — best forgotten — when I was one of them. Ugh...

Mrs. Denmarkguy — aka @cosmictriage — and I are up at the buttcrack of dawn because we are vendors at an arts & crafts show this weekend, and today (July 22nd) marks day one of the event... and we have to be there with our game-on at 9:00am.

Actually, quite excited about it... it's the first such event we are participating in since early December 2019, thanks to Covid-19 and yadda, yadda.

Doing something like this, however, is a far departure from our normal mornings of very s.l.o.w.l.y. getting ourselves together for the day around 8:30-9:00am.

The irony of it all is that whereas I has an intense dislike of getting into the vertical position much before 8:30 in the morning, I actually am a pretty good morning person.

Meaning — in essence — that I hate getting up early, but I quite like being up early.

For a while, I tried doing the early-to-rise thing voluntarily, because I quite liked the freshness of my creative brain in the first hours, before it became "polluted" with all the things, distractions and outside influences of the day.

I actually managed to stick with the routine (getting up at 6:30am) for several months, but as fall drew nearer and the days shortened... so did my inclination to just roll over and ignore the time. That happened maybe 13-14 years ago.

I have not found myself interested in getting back to that routine, since... even though I still really enjoy the "energetic silence" that typically comes with early mornings.

Thankfully, the event we are participating in this weekend is only a short drive from here, and we were even able to set up yesterday afternoon. Normally, vendors tend to roll in at 6:00am, have three hours to set up, and then a full day of the actual events. Which means getting up at 4:00am, quite often... after having frantically packed the truck, the night before.

And now, it is time for me to get going! Hopefully this will be a successful venture that leaves us with a bit of extra money, at the end. Oh... and no weird illnesses!

Thanks for reading, and have a great day!

I function better in the morning, there was a time when I would wake up at 6 on weekends, my eyes would open spontaneously at that time. But for me, getting up at 4 am is overwhelming, the days when that happens I feel a drop in energy around 10 am, and after lunch I look like a zombie. LOL!

Have a lot of success in your sales!

I very much prefer to sleep in and then stay up late. Mornings are a nice novelty, but unless I am camping or otherwise living in closer contact with natural rhythms and light cycles, I don't function well that way.

My definition of early is about 8am, whereas 6ish is a no go lol. Well at least it is of your choice and sounds to be a fun choice at that!

I like to get up around 7:30 and go about my morning routine as leisurely as possible, and be ready to start whatever big tasks await me around 9:30. This time of year, though, I often get up around 7:00 and go straight out to the garden so I can do whatever needs doing out there before 9:00. After that, it's too warm outside. So my summer days often get a bit topsy-turvy.
